The
Levees combine high energy, soulful and dynamic vocals,
expert musicianship, and good-old fun as hallmarks of their live
show. The Nashville Scene Wrote, "The Levees smashed
a quiet smoky vibe with their rumbling Louisiana swamp rock!"
The Levees name was derived from the earthy mounds
created to avoid flooding in their home state. This also could be
a reference to the fact that The Levees will be the stopping factor
during an age when commercial pop is drowning out the foundation energy
of rock!
A live show is nothing short of magical as the intense
mood shifts between darkness and light-hearted, leaving the most extreme,
die hard fans that you could imagine.
The Levees are one of the most dynamic bands on the
music scene today. Their intense live show recently helped the group
break the online attendance record on the Muscle Shoals to Music Row
live radio/internet show…a feat accomplished strictly by word-of-mouth.
Standing ovations are common after a blistering set from the band.
Some fans have a hard time describing just what type of music they
play but the band’s concept is really quite simple.
The Levees are currently working with Grammy award-winning
producer Steve Fishell at the renowned Sound Emporium studios. Their
song “Blood River” was recently chosen to be featured
in the movie “Animals”.
The Levees are Adam Jones (lead vocals/trombone),
Dan Cohen (guitar/vocals), Derek Mixon (drums), and James Cook (bass/vocals).
